Narrative

This water project utilized a Hydro pneumatic Tower. The Hydro pneumatic Tower was connected to a water distribution system that distributes the water to each of the 42 households. Each family was responsible for assisting in the manual labor necessary to install the water system and financially contribute to the cost of materials necessary for their own domestic connection. Each family has a meter to calculate water usage so that appropriate rates can be applied to ensure sustainability of the system. People of Montegrande elected five villagers to serve on a local Water Committee. Family members use the water system, conserve water, pay their tariffs regularly, and practice healthy hygiene practices. The education program focuses hygienic habits involving hand-washing, food, cooking utensils, water, and latrines. The Department of Basic Sanitation of the Municipality of San Pedro and Etta Projects worked together to offer training to the members of the Water Community and the village at large.
