Narrative

This site #PW265 is in the Keotali village under the jurisdiction of the Saguna panchayat of Swarupnagar block in the district of North 24 Parganas.. The arsenic concentration of the private tubewell of Sawpan Sarkar was found to be 0.02 to 0.04 mg/L that was tested on 8 December 2012 with the VisuPAsS Visual Portable Arsenic testing field kit. The construction is supposed to start in mid February 2013.

Registers will be created as soon as the community starts using the water from this bore-dugwell.

People Getting Other Benefits: 30

Awareness programs such as village meetings before and after the construction of the well, health meeting and if needed projector program is done during the first year of construction. During this time the villagers are informed and educated on water borne diseases, health effects of arsenic in the drinking water and also educate, both, young and old, mainly women on how practicing proper personal hygiene prevents contagious diseases. At times more than 30 people gather at such meetings.
